How Burna Boy and On Built a Campaign Around the People Behind the Artist

Burna Boy shares the spotlight with his mother, sister and touring collaborators in “No Giant Stands Alone”, a campaign from Swiss sportswear brand On that puts the relationships behind his career at the centre of a footwear launch.

Released on 22 October 2026, the campaign brings together photography by Ronan McKenzie and short documentary films directed by Bafic. Its premise gives the people who help build the artist’s performances and manage his career a visible place in the story.

The work follows a partnership announced in September 2025, when On introduced the Nigerian musician as its symbolic Clubhouse President. That first chapter brought his personality into the brand’s tennis universe. This campaign explores the working relationships around him, giving the collaboration a more personal direction.

Giving community a face

McKenzie’s photographs feature Burna Boy alongside his mother Bose and sister Ronami, both part of his management team, as well as his dancers, vocalist and band, The Outsiders.

The casting gives the campaign’s message something concrete to rest on. Family ties sit alongside professional relationships, allowing the idea of collective success to emerge through the people pictured. For fans familiar with the artist on stage, this offers another way of understanding the work that makes those performances possible.

Bafic’s films develop that intimacy through exchanges within the team. In one moment reported by i-D, Bose describes Ronami as the person who holds the group together. Elsewhere, musicians playfully compete over who is Bose’s favourite. Those details give the participants personalities of their own and bring warmth to the campaign’s central idea.

Connecting the story to the shoes

On’s official announcement identifies two footwear styles accompanying the campaign: the Cloudmonster BB in Sienna | Sienna and THE ROGER Clubhouse BB in White | Mars, released through On.com and Foot Locker.

The creative task is to give those products a place within a story people might want to spend time with. The portraits establish the group, while the films offer reasons to become interested in its members. Together, the formats give the launch material that can sustain attention beyond a product announcement.

For On, the potential value lies in making its footwear familiar within the cultural world of Burna Boy and his audience. Whether that familiarity influences purchases remains an open question.

What brands can learn

The useful lesson is in the specificity of the execution. “Community” becomes more convincing when an audience can see who belongs to it, understand what they contribute and hear how they relate to one another.

That requires thoughtful casting and room for individual character. Here, the people surrounding Burna Boy supply much of the campaign’s emotional substance, giving the brand a story rooted in relationships that already exist.

The creative strength is the coherence between the message, the participants and the formats. A campaign about shared success becomes more engaging when the people who helped create that success have space to tell the story.
