Lucia and Jacky design bracelets made by hundreds of women
54 Signals2026
What happened
In June 2026, MADE51 introduced new Stackable Bracelets whose two designs were created in South Sudan by artisans Lucia and Jacky. The jewellery is made through Roots South Sudan by refugee, displaced and host-community women, and is sold through a global retail platform.
Who is behind it
Lucia and Jacky designed the two bracelet styles. Roots South Sudan coordinates artisans, while MADE51, an initiative of UNHCR, provides access to international customers.
Why it matters
This is a strong example of creators receiving recognition for their design as well as an income-generating product. Beadwork moves from a local craft into a named collection with manufacturing, retail and global distribution.
Beyond the story
MADE51 reported that approximately 400 women were making the Stackable Bracelets in South Sudan in 2026.
